Low Emittance Ring – Permanent Magnets Workshop

New Low Emittance Rings are nowadays increasingly considering the use Permanent Magnets in their designs. The use of Permanent Magnets in the new Low Emittance Rings has mainly two advantages: in the one hand, it allows a more compact distribution of magnets, since there is no need of coils and water cooling; in the other hand, it allows to reduce the running costs and the carbon footprint of the facility thanks to the removal of the power supplies associated to conventional electromagnets. However, the use of Permanent Magnets also presents some serious challenges. These challenges include the loss of flexibility for the correction of errors, correction that it is needed to ensure the proper beam dynamics performance and stability, and the long term stability of the magnets themselves due to the risk of radiation-induced demagnetization.
To foster collaboration and knowledge exchange between experts on this subject, we are organizing an exciting workshop, focused on Permanent Magnets for Low Emittance Rings.
The workshop is intended to share, between institutes, research centers and companies, the design challenges and experiences on the field.
It is divided in the following six sessions:
Due to the limited capacity of the venue, the organizers may limit the maximum number of participants per institution.
A visit to KYMA and/or ELETTRA will be offered to the participants, depending on demand.

La semana pasada durante la presentación de la nueva Estrategia Nacional Deep Tech la ministra Diana Morant dio a conocer el proyecto WISER (WInd-tunnel for a StEllarator Reactor), una ambiciosa instalación científico-tecnológica orientada a demostrar la viabilidad del stellarator como reactor de fusión nuclear para la producción de electricidad, en un acto en el que, además, se destacó el carácter estratégico de IFMIF-DONES.
El proyecto que contará con una inversión estimada de 500 millones de euros, es fruto de la colaboración entre el CIEMAT, el CDTI y la empresa Técnicas Reunidas.

Animamos a todas las empresas que tengan ofertas de prácticas y empleo a participar en el encuentro, que tendrá lugar el 18 de junio en CIEMAT.
Se organizará una feria de empleo, donde las empresas participantes tendrán la posibilidad de disponer de un espacio para conocer de primera mano a los estudiantes / jóvenes investigadores en búsqueda de oportunidades de práctica o empleo.
Estos estudiantes acuden de toda España y cursan actualmente Grados Universitarios, Masters y Doctorados en temáticas ligadas a la fusión y aceleradores.

Los días 14 y 15 de abril, Granada ha acogido la cuarta edición del Foro I+DONES, un encuentro clave para el ecosistema de la Industria de la Ciencia en España.
